This past weekend, Bekah and I took a Homemade Holiday cooking class in Seattle at The Pantry at Delancey. It was a Homemade Holiday Gifts baking class where we enjoyed baking four different items and packaging them all up. We left the class with 12 ready-to-give homemade holiday gifts! The class is designed to get you in the holiday baking mood and lets just say….. it does!
It was great to hang with Bek for the afternoon, meet some new ladies and learn some new skills in the kitchen! The four items we made were Rosemary Olive Oil crackers, Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread cookies with Lemon glaze, Triple Citrus Jam & Gingerbread Fudge with Sea Salt. So….. yeah.
This is the BEST possible way to bake/cook. You arrive and everything is all cut/cleaned/measured for you already, and there are kitchen assistants that take dirty dishes from you as you are finished with them. Yes, I am ruined for life. Just kidding. Kind of.
I got to learn how to properly slice and use fresh vanilla bean – you filet it like a fish, not cut from the top. It was easy, and I want to find more ways to use it. The aromatics from the class were amazing – fresh ginger, vanilla bean, lemon zest, rosemary – the list goes on!
The problem is that I am not actually giving them out as gifts. I brought all my wrapped gifts home, and opened some with my family, then the next day opened some with my co-workers. I want to show everyone what I made! The great thing is that I actually feel like trying to make some of these items myself at home!
I am hooked – I loved taking the class, and I cant wait to try another one soon!
